80 Years of Service and Fellowship
What a glorious celebration for River Oaks United Methodist Church
Sunday, September 10, 2017, River Oaks United Methodist Church celebrated 80 years of Service, Faith & Fellowship to our River Oaks members and community. With a wonderful worship service led by Rev. Dr. Robert Kenji Flowers, featuring a wonderful sermon by Rev. Linda McDermott and a wonderful message by the district superintendent, Rev. Travis Franklin. Other dignitaries who were also a part of the celebration service were: Rev. Timothy Thomas, Rev. Mike Alexander, Rev. Dr. Ann Hitt, Rev. Jerden Davis and Rev. Tiffany Danna. What an incredible service it was and what blessings our church received. The wonderful sermon and message given by Rev. Linda McDermott and Rev. Travis Franklin are online in our sermon section of our website. Thanks also to the wonderfully talented musicians and choral directors past and present, for their contributions to the celebration service. Former director Amy Allibon directed the amazing chancel choir made up of current and past members for the special anthem. The list of wonderful talent included former director, Brent Ault, former director, Aimee Flores, former director Jonah Copeland, present director Jon Kennedy and former pianist Elaine Lindsey and flutist Carole Stubbs. Here are just a few of the wonderful photographic memories that were made from the celebration service and the celebration luncheon afterwards. Thanks goes out to those who helped prepare for our 80th celebration. We couldn't have done it with out you! Cevetra Birdwell, Connie Sanchez, Marcene Wadsworth, Shug Wright, John & Nancy Loven, Dorothy Collins, Sherry Gates, Dan & Kim Fleming, Neva Cunningham, Jerry Ramsey, Rev. Robert Flowers and many others who pitched in, donated food, their time and service which made the celebration a wonderful success! Bless you all! Now we start work on our next 80 years!
